Standing On the Shoulders…

On the Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I find myself appreciative.

As a little brown-skinned girl from the Mississippi Delta, I personally knew poverty and adversity. I stood on the shoulders of many brave men and women that made it possible for me to obtain an education and have the freedom to pursue my goals in life.

As I not only chase down my professional goals, I encouraged that my writing goals are a possibility as well.

As we reflect on Dr. King’s legacy, let us not forget all of the men and women whose sacrifices made our dreams realities.
